About Nova Preceptor
Nova Preceptor is a placement service built for one group of students: nurses in Nova Southeastern University's Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing who want a preceptor close to home. We know NSU's clinical rules course by course, and we plan every placement around them.

Why a site just for NSU students
NSU's clinical process has its own shape. APRN students who bring a preceptor tell the clinical coordinator two semesters before each clinical course; students who bring none are placed by the coordinator within 150 miles of their residential ZIP code. The hours follow NSU's own formula of 95 practicum hours per credit hour, compliance runs through DISA CastleBranch, and Florida adds its own licensing rule for preceptors at Florida sites.
A general placement service treats all of that as detail. We treat it as the job. Everything on this site, from the placement process to the course pages, is written from NSU's handbook, catalogs and program pages, and the same knowledge drives each search.

How we work
Each student has a placement advisor who plans the clinical sequence with them, searches near their home for preceptors who fit the course, and organizes the preceptor and site details for NSU's clinical coordinator. We keep an eye on CastleBranch and site requirements, because an open item on the first day can cancel a placement under NSU's rules, and we stay on call through the semester in case a preceptor's plans change.
Students choose us because we start from NSU's own calendar, check the Florida license rule before anything goes to NSU, and keep going after the name is found. That is what a placement built around one school looks like.
Approval is NSU's to give. The clinical coordinator confirms each preceptor and site, and we hand over a match that already fits the course, the license rule and the timing.
What a good NSU placement looks like
A good placement starts before the clinical course does. The preceptor is named to the clinical coordinator ahead of the two-semester mark, practices in the setting the course calls for, and holds the license Florida requires at a Florida site. The site is close enough that a weekly clinic day fits around your shifts, and its onboarding items are finished in CastleBranch before the first day.
Just as important, the plan covers the next course as well as this one. An FNP student who secures a primary-care preceptor for NSG 5549 also needs pediatric and women's health preceptors for NSG 5589 and NSG 5569, and a capstone preceptor for NSG 5599. How we write this site
Every NSU fact on these pages comes from NSU's own public documents, and each page lists its sources and the date we last checked them. Where NSU's sources disagree, as they do on residence rules, license requirements and some hour figures, we show both versions and point you to the office that can confirm. Where NSU keeps detail private, such as the graduate clinical guide, we say so rather than guess.
The site is independent of NSU. Nothing here is an official NSU statement, and your program's current rules always come first. When NSU publishes a new handbook or catalog, we update the affected guides and their dates.

Are you part of Nova Southeastern University?
No. Nova Preceptor is an independent placement service for NSU nursing students. NSU's clinical coordinators approve every preceptor and site, and NSU's handbook, catalogs and staff set the rules for your program.
Do you only work in Florida?
Most NSU APRN students live in Florida, and we search in every region of the state. We also help online NSU students who live elsewhere, as long as their RN license is current in the state where they train and NSU confirms the arrangement.
How do you know NSU's rules?
We read NSU's own documents: the Nursing Student Handbook 2025-2026, the 2026-27 Graduate Catalog, the program pages and the health and safety requirements, and we check Florida's rules at the source. Each page on this site lists what it was written from.
Who will I work with?
A placement advisor who handles your search from the first conversation through the semester. You can reach the placement desk by chat, message or the form, and your advisor keeps you updated as preceptor options come in.
