Why we quote each placement individually
Placements for NSU students differ more than most people expect. A primary-care preceptor for NSG 5549 in Broward County is a different search from an acute-care preceptor for an AGACNP course in a smaller Florida county, or a psychiatric preceptor who can cover the child and adolescent content in NSG 5729. A single flat price would overcharge some students and leave others with a rushed search.
So we ask a few questions first, then send a quote that names what it covers. There is nothing to commit to until you have read it.
What moves a quote
- The specialty. Pediatric and women's health preceptors for the two 95-hour FNP clinicals, and psychiatric preceptors for PMHNP courses, take a longer search in most regions.
- The course's size. A 285-hour capstone clinical such as
NSG 5599asks more of a preceptor than a 95-hour course, and fewer preceptors can host it. - Where you live. Dense metro areas offer more practices; rural counties and the Panhandle usually mean a wider search.
- How soon you start. A search that begins well before NSU's two-semester notice costs less effort than one that begins a few weeks before the course.
- How many courses we plan. Planning several NSU clinical courses together is more efficient than separate searches.
Your plan matters too. Flex-plan students reach their first clinical course later than full-time students, which gives a longer runway before the notice date, while a full-time FNP student meets the pediatric and women's health clinicals in the same semester and needs two preceptors lined up at once.

Some costs belong to NSU's own requirements and are separate from our fee. NSU's handbook and health and safety page put these on the student: immunizations and titers, a level 2 background check with fingerprinting when a facility asks for one (the handbook lists the fee), repeat or site-requested drug screens, health insurance and transportation to clinical agencies. Travel to an on-campus intensive is also yours.
A few clinical sites charge their own onboarding or badge fees. When a site we find has one, we tell you before you decide.

Why don't you list prices on the site?
Because the effort behind a placement changes with the NSU course, the specialty, your region and your timing. A posted price would be wrong for most students. We quote after a short conversation, and the quote names the course and what it includes.
Do you charge per course or per program?
Either, depending on what you need. Some students ask us for one clinical course; others want the whole FNP, AGACNP or PMHNP sequence planned. Planning several courses at once usually works out better, and the quote shows which courses it covers.
Does NSU charge for clinical placement?
NSU's public documents do not list a placement fee. They do make students responsible for items such as immunizations, a level 2 background check when a facility requires one, some drug screens, health insurance and transportation to clinical agencies.
Is the fee refundable if NSU does not approve the preceptor?
Your quote sets out what happens if a preceptor or site does not work out, including a replacement search. Because we check the course fit and the Florida license before anything goes to your clinical coordinator, most matches arrive ready for approval.
