NSU on-campus intensives by track, and planning clinical days around them
NSU's online MSN APRN tracks still bring you to campus: FNP and AGACNP students attend three intensives and PMHNP students one, each lasting 2 or 4 days, at Palm Beach or Tampa Bay. DNP students attend 1- to 2-day virtual intensives instead. NSU publishes no intensive dates, calls the schedule "subject to change", and places several intensives in semesters when you already owe a preceptor weekly clinical hours.

Every intensive NSU publishes, by track
The MSN APRN track pages list each intensive with its course, length and campus, and add one line underneath: "Scheduled intensives are subject to change." The semester columns below come from NSU's full-time (6-semester) and flex (8- or 9-semester) plans.

No NSU public page gives intensive dates for any track. Look for them in your course in Canvas and your SharkMail inbox, starting the semester before each intensive course. NSU also does not publish how the "Palm Beach or Tampa Bay" option on NSG 5542 and NSG 5550 is decided, so FNP students should ask their program director which campus they are expected at.
The PMHNP campus conflict
The PMHNP page's delivery text places the track's single on-campus intensive at the Tampa Bay campus. A few lines lower, its intensive schedule puts that intensive, NSG 5502 Advanced Health Assessment for 2 days, at Palm Beach, and the PMHNP table on the BSN to DNP page says Palm Beach as well. Older sources add a third answer: the 2025-26 catalog ran PMHNP as a hybrid program at the Miramar and Tampa Bay campuses, and the certificates page still lists PMHNP on-site at Miramar and Tampa Bay.
Tampa Bay and Palm Beach sit on opposite coasts of Florida, so the answer changes your travel plan. Ask your program director which campus hosts your cohort's intensive, and check the NSG 5502 course in Canvas once you are registered. The PMHNP program page covers the rest of the track.
Intensives that land in clinical semesters
Several intensives share a semester with a clinical course, which puts the travel days inside a term when you also owe your preceptor weekly hours.

NSU's clinical rules are why this matters. Clinical time runs every week from the course's first week, with no bunching at either end of the term, and any planned clinical day you skip for travel still has to be made up later. The weekly-hours rule and clinical absences pages cover both rules.
Planning clinical days around intensive travel
Intensive days you know about in advance are far easier to handle than a surprise absence. A few habits keep them from colliding with your clinical schedule.
- Mark your intensive courses. When your plan of study arrives, flag every course with an intensive, using the table above.
- Tell your preceptor at the first meeting. Before hours start, share which semester has an intensive and roughly how many days, so the weekly schedule absorbs it from the outset.
- Plan the week, not a catch-up. A 4-day AGACNP intensive plus travel can take most of a week. Spread that semester's hours around it from the start, because NSU's rule against compressing hours at the end of a semester leaves no room for a late catch-up.
- Recheck dates before you book. Because the schedule is "subject to change", confirm dates in Canvas before booking travel and again the week before.
- Bring your NSU ID badge. NSU expects students to wear their ID badge whenever they are on campus or at a clinical site, and regional-campus students can request one online.
Travel is yours to arrange: the 2026-27 catalog makes students responsible for transportation to clinical agencies "and other locations related to their program". If you live near a campus, Palm Beach County and Tampa cover local clinical options.
Certificates and doctoral programs
Certificates. NSU says certificate coursework "varies online and on-site at our Miramar (PMHNP), Palm Beach (AGACNP & FNP) and Tampa Bay (FNP & PMHNP) campuses" but publishes no per-course intensive schedule. NSU plans to take certificate coursework online, from summer 2027 by the catalog's account or from the 2027-28 academic year by the program pages' account, and has not said whether on-site days survive the change.
BSN to DNP. The program page promises "1 - 3 (based on concentration) on-campus intensives": in practice the MSN intensives of your concentration, followed later by virtual days inside every project course.
Post-master's DNP. The program page calls it fully online, with a virtual intensive of one or two days inside each project course. The 2025-26 handbook, though, still requires a single summer institute of three to four days at Fort Lauderdale/Davie; your program director can say which description is current. If you have read about one weekend a month on campus, that is the 2025-26 catalog's AGACNP "executive format" at Palm Beach; the 2026-27 catalog describes the MSN as online.

Questions NSU students ask
How many on-campus intensives does NSU's online FNP program have?
Three, per NSU's FNP page: NSG 5502 Advanced Health Assessment (2 days, Palm Beach), NSG 5542 Primary Care Adult I (2 days, Palm Beach or Tampa Bay) and NSG 5550 Primary Care Adult II (2 days, Palm Beach or Tampa Bay). Dates are not published, and NSU warns that the schedule can change.
Is the NSU PMHNP intensive in Tampa Bay or Palm Beach?
NSU's own page says both. The program description sends PMHNP students to the Tampa Bay campus, while the intensive table on that page shows NSG 5502, two days, at Palm Beach. The certificates page names Miramar and Tampa Bay for PMHNP. Ask your program director which campus your cohort uses before you book travel.
Do NSU intensive days count as clinical hours?
NSU does not say that they do. The intensives are attached to didactic courses such as NSG 5502, NSG 5542 and NSG 5620, while practicum hours belong to the paired clinical courses done with your preceptor. Treat intensive days as separate from your clinical hours unless your course faculty tells you otherwise.
When are NSU intensive dates announced?
NSU does not post intensive dates on its public pages and describes the schedule as subject to change. Look for dates in your course in Canvas and in messages to your SharkMail account, and ask your program director if nothing is posted by the semester before the intensive course.
Does the NSU DNP have on-campus intensives?
Post-master's DNP students meet virtually: one or two intensive days in each project course, with no campus visit on NSU's current program page. BSN to DNP students add the on-campus intensives of their MSN concentration. An older description in the 2025-26 handbook includes one summer institute at Fort Lauderdale/Davie, so check which applies to your cohort.
