What to include
- Your NSU track: FNP, AGACNP or PMHNP, a postgraduate certificate, BSN to DNP or the post-master's DNP.
- The clinical course you are planning for, if you know it, such as
NSG 5549orNSG 5719. - Whether you are on the full-time or flex plan, and the semester the course begins.
- Your home city or ZIP code, and how far you are willing to drive.
- The days of the week you can give to clinical hours around your job.
If you are unsure of any of this, send what you have. Your placement advisor can work out the course and the two-semester notice date with you.
What happens next
Your placement advisor reads your request, checks the NSU course against the settings it needs, and replies with the preceptor options we can see near your home and a quote. From there we plan the dates around NSU's two-semester notice and prepare the details your clinical coordinator reviews.
If your clinical course is close, say so in the message. We move urgent requests to the front and tell you plainly what the timing means under NSU's rules.
Work out your notice date before you write
The most useful thing you can bring to a first conversation is the date NSU needs to hear about your preceptor. Take the semester your next clinical course begins and count back two semesters: a clinical course in the fall points to the start of the winter semester before it, and a course in the winter points to the summer before. That is the moment your clinical coordinator expects your preceptor and site, and it is the date we plan the search around.

Good to have at hand
- Your RN license details, including the state, since NSU requires the license to be current where your practicum happens.
- Your DISA CastleBranch status, so we know which items are done and which are due.
- Any preceptor or practice you have already approached, and what they said.
- Your program plan or Degree Works audit, if you have it open, to confirm the course order.
None of this is required to send the form. It simply lets your placement advisor move faster once you are talking.

If your clinical course is weeks away
Write anyway, and put the course number and start date in the first line. A short runway changes how we search: we look wider around your home, lean on settings that can onboard a student quickly, and check which of your CastleBranch items a new site is likely to ask for so nothing holds up the first day.
We will also tell you plainly how the timing sits with NSU's rules. The handbook expects clinical hours to begin when the course begins and to run weekly, so a late start has consequences worth talking through with your clinical coordinator. We use what you send to reply and to arrange your placement, as the privacy policy describes. Please keep health records and other sensitive documents out of the form; your placement advisor will ask for any specific item a placement needs.
Questions NSU students ask
How quickly will someone reply?
Your placement advisor replies as soon as the request is read, usually the same day during working hours. Urgent requests, such as a clinical course starting within weeks, go to the front of the queue.
Can I just ask a question without starting a search?
Yes. Many NSU students first ask how the two-semester notice works for their plan, or whether a particular setting fits a course. Ask in the chat or the form and your placement advisor will answer.
Do you work with students outside South Florida?
Yes. We search across Florida and help online NSU students elsewhere whose RN license is current where they train. Include your home city or ZIP code so we can see the options near you.
